About this product
Golden raisins: small and wrinkled, pale gold to amber, with a few leaning pale green. Under the light they shine and look almost see-through. Each one is soft and plump, doesn't cling much when you grab a handful, and the light colour shows up well on rice and desserts.
Taste
A clean, quiet sweetness with a slight tang at the end, and a soft chew. Next to dark raisins it tastes lighter, closer to white grapes.
How to enjoy it
Qudameh with raisins is a well-known Damascene pairing in one bowl. Golden raisins also go into Ramadan khoshaf, get scattered over rice at family feasts, and are folded into ka'ak and cake or mixed with raw nuts for a quick handful between meals.
How to store it
Keep it in a closed tin or jar somewhere cool, or in the fridge to keep it soft longer; if it dries out, soak it in warm water for a quarter of an hour before cooking with it.
