About this product
Dried lemon cut into rounds: each slice has a ring of yellow-green rind, then white pith, and in the middle the segments, gone pale brown with drying, fanned out like a sun. The slices are fairly thick, dry and light, some whole, some chipped at the edge.
Taste
Sour and clear with a slight bitterness from the rind, and the scent opens up in hot water. Most people don't eat it alone but use it to flavour something else; for a softer sourness, lift the slice out of the glass after a few minutes.
How to enjoy it
A slice in hot tea or warm water in winter, or in a gourd of mate; some use it to decorate cakes and juices or drop it into cold water in summer. Others grind it fine and sprinkle it over salad or fish.
How to store it
A sealed glass jar away from damp keeps the slices dry and fragrant; keep them away from strong spices, which they will soak up.
