About this product
White pumpkin seeds: broad, flat and chalk white, oval with a small pointed tip. The shell is thicker than a sunflower seed's, with a thin rim along the edge, and a flat green kernel sits inside. The seeds are fairly large, so a handful lasts longer than a handful of sunflower seeds.
Taste
It asks for patience: press the rim until the shell parts, and out comes a mild, slightly nutty kernel. Fans will tell you the effort is part of it.
How to enjoy it
A seed for long summer evenings on the balcony or in the garden, and a regular at Ramadan gatherings, because slow cracking stretches the conversation. It often shares the table with sunflower seeds: the impatient take one, the patient take the other.
How to store it
A closed tin in a dry cupboard keeps the shells firm and easy to split; to toast them a little more at home, a dry pan and constant stirring are all you need.
