About this product
Green pumpkin kernels are what you find inside the shell. Small, flat and pointed, olive green in lighter and darker shades, with a matte surface. There is nothing to crack; they go straight into your mouth or onto the plate. For the same seed in its shell, see the white pumpkin seeds.
Taste
Mild with a nutty edge and a fine, light crunch, much gentler than the bigger nuts. Two minutes in a dry pan makes the kernels puff a little and smell stronger.
How to enjoy it
Sprinkle a handful over salad, soup or yoghurt, knead it into bread or ka'ak dough, or eat it plain if you have no patience for shells. Mixed with raisins and dried berries it makes a small box for work or school.
How to store it
Without a shell it reacts to air faster, so keep it in a tight jar somewhere cool, or in the fridge in summer, and try to finish it within a few weeks.
