Roasted salted almonds
Also called لوز محمّص مملّح
Whole brown-skinned almonds with a crunch you can hear
About this product
Roasted, salted almonds, whole, with their thin brown skins left on. They are a light reddish brown with a matte surface and the fine lines that make an almond recognisable across the room. Fairly even in size, and nothing coats them. For another colour or flavour, see the red and smoked almonds.
Taste
A firm, dry bite, then the roasted almond flavour with the salt the name promises. The brown skin adds a faint bitterness that balances it.
How to enjoy it
Everyone at the table agrees on this one. It sits next to seeds and pistachios in the evening spread, plenty of people have a handful with afternoon tea, and it can be roughly chopped over salad or rice for a salty crunch.
How to store it
A sealed glass jar out of the sun keeps it crisp and free of kitchen smells; if damp softens it, a few minutes in a low oven brings the crunch back.
