About this product
Red almonds: whole and skin-on like the regular roasted ones, but darker, a red leaning into brown, with a clear shine as if brushed with something. The almond's grain still shows through. If you want to know what gives them this colour, spice, coating or roast, ask at the shop.
Taste
The crunch matches roasted almonds, though the shiny surface feels smoother on the teeth; eat one of each back to back and you'll notice. Underneath, it still tastes like almond, rich and dry.
How to enjoy it
Its colour breaks up a bowl of plain almonds and cashews, which is why hosts like it for Eid visits and family calls. It is also good with a glass of tea after lunch.
How to store it
Keep it in a closed tin, dry and out of the sun, so the shine stays and the surface doesn't turn tacky; if it sat in an open bowl all evening, put the rest back in the tin before bed.
